Pace: 9:55 mile

Today was all sorts of bad. I tried a new route, which mentally is very challenging. I decided on a trail that wound through the neighborhood near my office, but despite mapping it before I started, I got turned around and strayed off the course twice. Also, I didn’t know this new route would have 5-6 inclines and two HUGE hills. It’s very daunting to turn a corner and see a giant slope. Finally, I didn’t rest enough before my pre-run snack and got a side stitch or cramp about halfway in. So yeah: all sorts of bad.

According to the new schedule, it was supposed to be a tempo run, which means splits between 7:45-8:10. I royally screwed that up. This turned into more of an aerobic recovery run, so I may have to re-do this tempo run on Thursday. We’ll see.
